How Does James May Drink His Maté?
Having learned from the Guarani people, James May prefers the robust sweetness of the loose Yerba Maté Royale® tea sipped through a bombilla. He begins his daily research and writing by 5:30 AM with a special elixir he devised. He puts a pinch of loose Pau d’Arco in a 3½ cup mug, adds 3 heaping tablespoons of Yerba Maté Royale® and then adds the contents from one tea bag of Pau d’Arco and one of stevia and pours them into the mug. He then adds just enough mildly warm water to moisten the herbal blend, which softens the surface of the herbs, opens their pores and prepares them to release their treasure of nutrients. This sits while the rest of the water is heating to the point of a steaming, but not boiling, temperature. After the hot water is added, the brew is allowed to steep for a few minutes. May often squeezes half a lemon, picked from his tree, into the brew. Sometimes he will pick and add to the beverage a few short sprigs of rosemary or peppermint leaves for added flavor and health benefits. It’s a powerfully nutritious, energizing, mentally stimulating jump start for every day.
May sips this extraordinarily nutritious, energizing brew through his bombilla while he studies and writes in his home office before going to his business office. He says it not only gives him physical energy and mental alertness, but also deepens perception and heightens memory. When the mug is empty, he refills it with hot water and continues the process. He often leaves some of the tonic brew for when he returns from his Wisdom Natural Brands® business office at the end of the work day, most often about 8 or 9 PM.
Most people who prefer the loose Yerba Maté Royale® like it just as it is, right out of the box. However, May always suggests a little Pau d’Arco be added because of its extraordinary health benefits — and together they are a perfect match for health and wellness.
